Steven Curtis Chapman receives “BMI Icon Award
Steven Curtis Chapman was honored as a “BMI Icon Award” recipient at the 2022 BMI Awards. He is joining with an elite list of songwriters including Barry Manilow, Carole King, Dolly Parton, and others who have made the biggest impact in music. But, the coolest thing is this award has never been given to a Christian music artist!
This year marks, 35 years since his debut album. As we read about some of Steven Curtis Chapman’s career highlights we were blown away: 59 Dove Awards, five GRAMMYs, 49 No. 1 radio singles, and he’s sold more than 11 million albums.
He’s the most awarded artist in Christian music history…but, at the end of the day…the words his wife wrote about him after receiving the BMI icon, I know mean more than any award ever could. Listen to some of the words of MaryBeth Chapman.
