Newsboys: Their Influence & New Angle

At the end of July, the band “Newsboys UNITED” split up with four of the members going back to their former band name that we all remember: The Newsboys.

What are they up to now? The Newsboys just released their brand new album STAND, most of which they wrote during the pandemic last year. Michael Tate, one of the band members said, “I spent a year or so at home thinking about the kind of music I wanted to make, writing songs, and working in the studio on the project that eventually became STAND.” Another band member, Duncan Phillips, mentioned that this album is much more an emblem of who the band has become.

Grateful for the journey that Christian music has put them on, they posted their lyric video to the song “Stand” on Instagram and said, “We are honored to be a part of this Jesus music community alongside so many other artists and leaders who embody what Stand is about. We hope that this lyric video serves as an inspiration to stand for what YOU believe in.”

The Newsboys have been responsible for some of the most familiar Christian anthems over the past two decades including songs like “God’s Not Dead”, “We Believe”, and “Your Love Never Fails” and they have won countless awards since their inception in the late 1980s.
