A Recap Of GMA Dove Award Wins

If you missed the 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards last weekend, do not worry! We are going to recap some of the wins from the night!

First of all, Anne Wilson took home the Dove Award for both New Artist of the Year and her song, “My Jesus.”  

Phil Wickham won Worship Album of the Year with “Hymn of Heaven!”

Spanish Song of the Year winner, “Danzando” was an exciting win for Gateway Worship Español. (Gateway is just a few minutes down the road from where our studios are!)

Also, super exciting for William Ryan III’s friend, Chad, who is a producer on the TV series, “The Chosen,” as he came home with his first Dove Award for Inspirational Film! 

But, we would have to say the night was most special for Cece Winans! Her song, “Believe For It,” was  awarded Song of the Year!  AND she won Artist of the Year!  Cece made Dove Awards history as the first black female solo artist to win this award.  

It was her acceptance speech that brought the audience to tears, however.  When accepting her award, she only sang a few lines from the hymn, “To God Be The Glory”.  

Sometimes the extra words are not needed…To say, “To God be the glory,” is enough.
