20 The Countdown Magazine Is Now Listener Supported!

I have some big news here at 20 The Countdown Magazine that I am so excited to share with all of you!

In the fall of 2019, the founder of 20 The Countdown Magazine, Jon Rivers (and host of the show at that time) shared that he was ready to retire and asked me to take over as the host and to keep it going each week. Of course, I was honored, but definitely nervous to fill the role.

Every week, for more than 35 years, this 2-hour, fully-produced show has been sent out to radio stations who want to air it around the world at no cost to them. The show used to be supported by running commercials to cover the expenses of the production of the show, but I wanted to get away from running those advertisements to allow us to include more music, news, artist stories & encouragement.  

Jon had started working on a plan for all of this before his retirement, so his request to me was to work on setting the show up as a registered 501(c)3 organization since we’re a ministry that offers encouragement, hope & joy to listeners around the world.  

I made a commitment to Jon to keep the show on the air by funding all the production costs out of my own pocket until we could officially become a non-profit organization and gain support through donations from listeners. As you can imagine, funding a show like this is expensive and it’s been a challenge but God has provided in every way, even during a pandemic last year! I believe he’s going to keep providing for years to come but with the help of listeners like you that want to help transform people’s lives by getting this show into their homes across the world.

We hear stories from listeners every day on what this show, the songs & the stories behind the songs from the artists mean to them. We are constantly thanking God for the opportunity to share this joy and encouragement for two hours each week with our listeners and we’re so honored to be a part of what God is doing through Christian music, especially during these turbulent times that we’re in.

I’m so happy to share with you, that as of last week, after 18 months of working on this, we are officially a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry! We can now accept donations to not only support the production of the show but to offer even more encouragement, hope & joy to listeners all over.
